Best Project Management Certifications to Boost Your Career

If you’re looking to build up your resume with a new certification, you can’t go wrong with project management certifications. These programs give participants the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the field of project management, and they also come with various other benefits such as networking opportunities, industry recognition, and perhaps most importantly, increased salary potential. However, it can be challenging to decide which certification will be best for you—that’s why we put together this list of the five best project management certifications on the market today!

Google Project Management Certificate

The Google Project Management Professional Certificate is a credential that any novice student should obtain if they want to break into the world of project management.

Unlike most training, this program offers in-depth case narratives and practical evaluations. We find it more useful because of these features.

Having this Google career certificate is a good first step in establishing a career as a project manager. Additionally, the certification will provide more than 100 hours of project management education. As you gain experience, you will be able to take on the PMP certification by using these hours, which are recognized internationally as the standard in project management.

Project Management Professional (PMP)

The PMP certification is globally recognized and is one of the most in-demand certifications in the project management field. The PMP credential demonstrates that you have the experience, education, and skills necessary to lead and direct projects. To be eligible for the PMP exam, you must have a minimum of 4,500 hours of project management experience and 35 hours of project management education.  If you are currently enrolled in an educational program with a designated project management concentration, then the 35 hour requirement can be waived. Once certified, professionals are required to recertify every three years.

PRINCE2®

Prince2 is another internationally renowned project management qualification. There are two types of Prince2 certifications available: Foundation and Practitioner. The Foundation certificate requires 60 hours of professional development within the first 3 years after achieving it and requires 20 PDUs per year for continual renewal thereafter. It focuses on those who want to gain a basic understanding of Prince2. It provides an understanding of all aspects of Prince2, so if you’re aiming for more than just a basic level this may be the one for you!

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)

The CAPM is a great entry-level certification for those looking to start a career in project management. It requires 23 contact hours of project management education, and demonstrates your commitment to the profession. Plus, it can help you land a job as a project manager or project coordinator.
